Joseph Emet joins us again to talk with Dr. Zohara about meditation in general, but specifically walking meditation. They also review his 2016 book Finding the Blue Sky: A Mindful Approach to Choosing Happiness Here and Now, TarcherPerigee, 2016. In this book Emet recounts his own journey toward wellbeing and happiness through mindfulness. These steps are outlined clearly in the book: Each chapter starts with a Zen story, and continues with a set of exercises for applying that teaching to real-life situations. Like Jon Kabat-Zinn, Joseph had his introduction to the mindfulness tradition through Zen. He trained with Roshi Robert Aitken in Hawaii, and then continued with Thich Nhat Hanh in Plum Village (France). At the end of his training, Thich Nhat Hanh appointed him a teacher in his tradition of Zen.
Joseph Emet started the Mindfulness Meditation Centre in 1997. Since then, he has trained several thousand people in mindfulness practices in large and small groups, for organizations, and in private sessions. Emet holds a Doctorate in Music from Boston University. He has been certified in Reality Therapy Counselling with Dr. William Glasser, and has been a Fulbright scholar. He is also a long time T’ai Chi practitioner. This interview was recorded in 2022.

Bob Dylan’s New York with June Sawyers and Host Dr. Bob Hieronimus

On a snowy winter morning in 1961, Robert Zimmerman left Minnesota for New York City with a suitcase, guitar, harmonica and a few bucks in his pocket. Wasting no time upon arrival, he performed at the Cafe Wha? in his first day in the city, under the name Bob Dylan. Over the next decade the cultural milieu of Greenwich Village would foster the emergence of one of the greatest songwriters of all time. From the coffeehouses of MacDougal Street to Andy Warhol's Factory, Dylan honed his craft by drifting in and out of New York's thriving arts scenes of the 1960s and early 70s. In Bob Dylan’s New York, author June Skinner Sawyers captures the thrill of how a city shaped an American icon and the people and places that were the touchstones of a legendary journey. Originally recorded in 2011.

The space-time continuum of scientists generally ignores the realm of the mind, even though phenomena such as imaginary numbers, used by Einstein to combine space with time, are concepts that only exist in the mind. Marc Seifer contends that the inadequacy of four-dimensional models to account for our experience of mental phenomena points to the consciousness of the mind as a higher organizing principle, a fifth dimension where thoughts are as real and quantifiable as our familiar physical world. He shows that because thought enables us to move backward and forward through time--reflecting on the past and making plans for the future--this fifth dimension of mind breaks the laws of relativity, thereby transcending the speed of light. His extensive study of this fifth dimension ranges from relativity and ether theory to precognition, telepathy, and synchronicity, all from the perspective of the conscious universe.
His book,Transcending the Speed of Light: Consciousness, Quantum Physics, and the Fifth Dimension, reveals how since the introduction of Descartes’ dualism in the seventeenth century, the mind and the physical world have been viewed as disconnected entities. Yet qualities of mind such as awareness, purposeful action, organization, design, and even decision-making are present within the structure of matter and within the dimensions of space and time. Across the eastern portion of North America, burials of ancient people who possessed a very tall stature have been uncovered.
Ages of the Giants: A Cultural History of the Tall Ones in Prehistoric America by Jason Jarrell utilizes actual archaeological reports and the records of American Antiquarians, along with numerous historical chronicles and press accounts to document the cultures of a distinct sub-population of large, powerfully-built individuals of extraordinary height who inhabited ancient North America for thousands of years. The product of a decade of research, including fieldwork at ancient sites and the study of thousands of pages of archaeological literature, Ages of the Giants traces the history of the ancient Tall Ones across four millennia, and features in-depth descriptions of the cultures they founded, as well as their traditions, cosmology, and settlement patterns.
Discussion of the Allegheny Mounds and the Late Archaic and Woodland period cultures in the Northeastern United States and the Ohio River Valley, including evidence of prehistoric individuals possessing a unique, gigantic anthropology, subsequently obfuscated by the Smithsonian Institution’s Department of Anthropology. Originally Recorded in 2016.

Go behind the scenes of the 4,000-year-old astronomical calendar in New Hampshire called America’s Stonehenge with caretaker Dennis Stone. Learn about the multiple manmade chambers and how they mark the solstice on the calendar. Built by a Native American Culture or a migrant European population? No one knows for sure. A maze of man-made chambers, walls and ceremonial meeting places, at over 4,000 years old America's Stonehenge is most likely the oldest man-made construction in the United States.
Like Stonehenge in England, America's Stonehenge was built by ancient people well versed in astronomy and stone construction. It has been determined that the site is an accurate astronomical calendar. It was, and still can be, used to determine specific solar and lunar events of the year.
Various inscriptions have been found throughout the site including Ogham, Phoenician and Iberian Punic Script. Dr. Barry Fell of Harvard University did extensive work on the inscriptions found at the site. They are detailed in his book America B.C. This interview was originally recorded in 2016
